Girls’ Cricket

DF has two teams who represent the school in the schools’ league. The schools’ league is divided into a first league and second league. In the first league, matches are played over twenty overs, whilst matches in the second league, which caters mainly for beginner girls, are played over fifteen overs. Matches are played on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the first and fourth terms of the year. Practices alternate with match days.

DF Malherbe has produced many players with exceptional talent, who have represented both Eastern Province and South Africa. These players include Marizanne Kapp, SA Women’s Cricketer of the Year (2013,2014) and Mieke De Ridder, SA Girls’ under 18 captain (2014) and current member of the SA Women’s’ Squad.

Our goals are to improve the profile of girls’ cricket within the school by mass participation and to build on the successes of previous years.
